Respect My Ride Video Contest Rules

- What: This contest is an awesome way to create an important message about the dangers of secondhand smoke. Create a 30 second public service announcement following the guidelines below.
- Who: Any Dakota County student/resident 15-18 years old.
- Deadline: Friday, November 14, 2008, no late entries accepted
- How: See complete rules below. Submit your entry here.
- Prizes: Amazon gift cards will be awarded to:
- 1st place - $300
- 2nd place - $200
- 3rd place - $100.
- Winning videos will be submitted to air on cable TV and in local movie theaters.
Rules
- Your commercial must show why smoke-free cars are cool and why secondhand smoke is NOT.
- You must be 15-18 years old and live or go to school in Dakota County, MN.
- Entries must be submitted by Friday, November 14, 2008 (No Exceptions)
- By submitting an entry you are agreeing:
- If you are under 18 years old, you must submit a parental/legal guardian consent form (download it).
- All videos must include:
- A message encouraging others to take the RMR pledge online.
- Respect My Ride logo.
- Web site address: RespectMyRide.org.
- The video must be no longer than 30 seconds in length.
- Upload your submission to YouTube and tag with “respectmyridepsa”.
- Briefly answer the following questions and include it with your video submission.
- Why do you think it is important to have a smoke-free car?
- What motivated you to develop this specific project (for example, personal experience, advertisements, classes you have taken, etc.)?
Prohibited
- No person can be shown in the video with ANY actual or fake tobacco products; however, if no person appears, fake tobacco products may be used.
- In no way should the video glorify smoking.
- Creations that are obscene, include nudity, are overtly sexual, gratuitously or graphically violent, or include hate speech are ineligible for the contest.
- Creations cannot portray anyone involved in risky, questionable or illegal activities.
- Do not include any information that could specifically identify where a person lives (i.e. the address) or other personal information.
Determining the Winners
- Dakota County Public Health Department has the sole discretion to approve or reject submissions and will review all submitted creations for inclusion in the contest.
- All submissions are subject to disqualification if formal rules are not followed.
